Get that bug spray handy — you’ll need it.
City of Winnipeg entomologist Taz Stuart said Thursday residents can expect a double dose of nuisance mosquitoes as warmer temperatures arrive.
Watch:
In the next week, the final generation of spring adult nuisance mosquitoes and the first generation of summer adult nuisance mosquitoes will begin emerging.
A “double-whammy,” as Stuart put it, will create no shortage of work for the city’s 160 staff and four helicopters tasked with keeping those pesky blood-suckers at bay.
Crews are continuing to larvicide about 35,000 hectares of standing water, while current trap counts sit at zero for the time being.
