A 19-year-old American man was arrested at Winnipeg’s James Richardson International Airport on Sunday for waving a knife in the air.

Winnipeg police were called to the airport’s groundside entrance at about 7:15 p.m. to deal with the matter.

After several minutes of officer’s verbally directing the man to drop the folding knife, he was taken into custody.

No one was hurt in the incident.

Joshua Haerle of Missouri has been charged with possession of weapon for dangerous purposes.

He is being held at the Winnipeg Remand Centre.
