A former University of Manitoba Bison women’s soccer player has been named to the official Team Canada roster for the 2011 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Germany.

Desiree Scott was one of 21 players eligible to play in the Women’s World Cup, which runs from June 26 to July 17 in nine German cities.

Scott’s participation will mark Canada’s fifth consecutive involvement in the FIFA event, dating back to 1995.

The 23-year-old is currently the Bison women’s soccer assistant coach.
