The 60th annual Red River Exhibition is now in full swing, having officially kicked off 10 days of the biggest summer fair in Manitoba on Friday.

Besides the midway, the Ex is expected to attract about 200,000 people by drawing in crowds with Exhibition Place, the Pavilion and a number of entertaining competitions, including the Stars of Tomorrow and Kidz Quest. There’s also a few new food items on the manu for patrons to enjoy this season.

Also new this year is the inclusion of the Winnipeg Humane Society’s new Pet Centre exhibit. The WHS will offer meet and greets with adoptable pets, an extreme dogs autograph, a game show, and prizes for the kids.

Gates open at 12 p.m. today until midnight, with a free pancake breakfast scheduled for Sunday from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Gate admission is free during these times with a non-perishable food item.

Tonight’s headlining act will be Fefe Dobson on the WestJet Main Stage beginning at 8 p.m. The concert is included in regular gate admission.

Tickets to the Ex are $12 at the gate, or $8 at Sobeys. Children six and under are admitted free.

Gates open at noon for Aboriginal Day Celebrations on Tuesday, June 21. Admission is free from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m.

The Red River Ex will run until June 26.
