A day after losing the second of two pre-season games, the Winnipeg Blue Bombers have trimmed their roster.
On Friday, the club announced the release of 12 players.
The following players were released:
Import offensive tackle Marlon Winn
Non-import offensive lineman Matt Morencie
Non-import wide receiver David McKoy
Non-import wide receiver Josh Bishop
Import wide receiver Alex Watson
Import wide receiver Damian Sherman
Import linebacker Rico McCoy
Non-import defensive lineman Shawn Mayne
Import defensive end Kenny Mainor
Import defensive end Bryant Turner
Import defensive back Arrington Hicks
Non-import kicker Rene Paredes
The Winnipeg Football Club also announced Friday that the first structural steel members for the new stadium at the University of Manitoba have been raised.
“It’s very exciting to reach another crucial construction point on schedule,” said project manager Ossama AbouZeid “We continue to move at the pace we had anticipated, and are very happy to update fans as we move toward our opening date in 2012.”
