Fisher Bay Provincial Park (HANDOUT)
Fisher Bay Provincial Park (PDF, 3.9 MB) will be the province’s fifth new provincial park this year.
The park, 200 kilometres north of Winnipeg, encompasses 84,150 hectares surrounding islands and shoreline of Lake Winnipeg.
Aboriginal and treaty rights will be respected and maintained in the park area, Conservation Minister Bill Blaikie said on Monday.
Hunting, fishing, trapping and gathering activities will continue in the park. Commercial fishing and trapping activities will not be affected by the park designation.
There are 86 provincial parks in Manitoba overall.
