July 5, 2011 11:57 AM | Sports

Two Winnipeg Blue Bombers will be sitting out the team’s home opener on Friday due to injuries.

The Bombers placed non-import safety Brady Browne and non-import receiver Kito Poblah on the nine-game injured list Tuesday.

The team has signed import receiver Alex Watson to a contract in the mean time.

Also on Tuesday, defensive back Alex Suber and safety Ian Logan were honoured for their part in the team’s 24-16 victory over the Hamilton Tiger-Cats last week.

Suber picked up the Defensive Player of the Week award, while Logan earned the title of Canadian Player of the Week.

Logan, who has previously been named Player of the Week, recorded two interceptions and three tackles in the victory, with his second interception sealing the deal as it occurred with less than two minutes left to play.

The Bombers host Toronto at Canad Inns Stadium Friday at 6:30 p.m.
