Manitoba RCMP are searching for two brothers from Thompson who capsized their canoe near Nelson House First Nation on Sunday.

Police say the incident happened at about 1 p.m. on the river downstream from the Notigi Dam, located about 45 minutes north of Nelson House off of Highway 391.

RCMP are using a boat and a chartered helicopter to assist in the search.

The 42- and 43-year-old were fishing from their canoe when it capsized. Neither of the men were wearing lifejackets.

The location where the men disappeared is considered to be very turbulent.
