A development plan put forward by the City of Winnipeg has won a national award.
The “Our Winnipeg/SpeakUpWinnipeg” plan was recognized by the Canadian Institute of Planners this week at its annual conference in St. John’s, NL. The city was presented the 2011 Award for Planning Excellence for its long-term planning framework.
The OurWinnipeg blueprint outlines land use and development in Winnipeg over the next 25 years. SpeakUpWinnipeg is the public engagement component, where citizens and stakeholders can have share their input with city planners.
OurWinnipeg was recently approved by the Manitoba government and will receive its third and final reading at a City Council meeting on July 20.
