A member of the Canadian Military stationed at CFB Shilo was killed Monday night when the motorcycle he was riding hit a parked bulldozer.

RCMP say the single-vehicle crash happened just before 10 p.m. on Mountain Street in Boissevain.

According to police, the 31-year-old was ejected from the motorcycle on impact and succumbed to his injuries a short time later at the Boissevain Health Centre.

Speed is considered a contributing factor in the collision.

Police also note the rider was not wearing a helmet.

UPDATE: The soldier has been identified as Warrant Officer Bryce Leonard Piukkala.
