Youth for Christ’s new Main Street facility is on track to open this October.

The Centre for Youth Excellence is nearly finished with more than 80 percent of construction complete. The centre will offer Winnipeg youth a dynamic place to visit and become engaged.

Public Safety Minister Vic Toews and Winnipeg Mayor Sam Katz toured the facility Wednesday morning with Youth for Christ Executive Director John Courtney.

“We are thrilled with the progress,” said Courtney. “We have consistently been able to build with excellence and within budget. The building is truly inspirational. It is a clear statement that we value youth and believe in their future.”

The 50,000-square-foot facility has received $3.2 million in funding from both the city and federal governments towards its $10 million price tag.
