Looking to catch a flick this weekend?

Movies in the Park begins Friday at Assiniboine Park’s Lyric Theatre. “Happy Feet” kicks things off at 7 p.m., followed by “Avatar” at 9:15 p.m.

“This is definitely one of the must-see summer events in Winnipeg,” said Margaret Redmond, president and CEO of the Assiniboine Park Conservancy. “There has been a lot of buzz about this new addition to our summer line-up and it’s going to be great to see the crowds enjoying a completely new summer experience for our city.”

Movies will be screened on a 27-foot wide LED screen every Friday in August. Admission is free.

Other titles include “Night at the Museum” and “Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring” on August 12, “Ice Age 2” and “Raiders of the Lost Ark” on August 19, and “Monsters vs. Aliens” and “Top Gun” on August 26. Showtimes for all are 7 p.m. and 9:15 p.m.
