Hug a Bear This Weekend for Winnipeg Harvest

August 5, 2011 7:53 AM | News

If you see two giant plush bears walking around The Forks on Saturday, don’t be afraid to give them a hug.

Kraft Peanut Butter bears ‘Smoothie’ and ‘Crunchy’ will be under the canopy from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. in support of Winnipeg Harvest.

For every hug they receive, Kraft will donate one jar of peanut butter to the local food bank. This year’s goal is 8,500 hugs.

Food donations have slipped during the summer and Harvest needs a bit of a boost. Since 2010, 5,548 jars of peanut butter have been donated, but there is still a need for more.

For those who can’t make it to The Forks, help Spread the Feeling online by sending a virtual hug.

And if you’re heading to tonight’s Winnipeg Blue Bombers game, bring a non-perishable food item for Winnipeg Harvest. Those fans who do can get their photograph taken with the Grey Cup at Gate 3 beginning at 5 p.m.
