Flood Donations to Be Collected at Goldeyes’ Game

August 9, 2011 7:29 AM | News

The Canadian Red Cross will be collecting donations at tonight’s Winnipeg Goldeyes game.

The Red Cross will be hosting “Canadian Red Cross Night” in support of the Manitoba flood response. Starting at 5:30 p.m., volunteers in Red Cross vests will be collecting donations to continue helping the thousands of Manitobans still dealing with the effects of widespread flooding.

In July, another request was made to Manitobans to help out with donations to assist residents still displaced by spring flooding.

Donations will be used to provide urgent and essential relief and recovery items such as food, clothing, accommodations, medical items, basic repairs, household goods, and occupational needs, as well as clean-up kits and referrals to other services available.

Volunteers will collect donations until 8 p.m., or you can donate online at RedCross.ca.

The Goldeyes opened a 10-game homestand on Monday — the longest one of the season — and will face the Sioux Falls Pheasants tonight at 7 p.m.
