Brandon’s Super 8 Motel Erupts in Flames

No injuries were reported after a blaze caused extensive damage to Brandon’s Super 8 Motel early Tuesday morning.

The fire began just before 5 a.m. on the south side of the motel at 1570 Highland Avenue. According to Brandon police, the fire started in a rear utility shed, soon spreading to the roof of the motel.

Guests were quickly evacuated before fire crews arrived on scene and put up at the nearby Motel 6, which is owned by the same chain.

The cause of the fire hasn’t yet been determined.
