Munz, Beyak to Cover Jets for Sports Radio 1290

August 24, 2011 7:02 PM | Sports

The radio voices of the Winnipeg Jets have been chosen when the team begins its regular season in October.

Brian Munz of CJOB will be moving to Sports Radio 1290, and will share play-by-play duties with Dennis Beyak.

ChrisD.ca received a tip about the move last week, but couldn’t confirm it independently to confidently publish the report. Late Wednesday, the Winnipeg Sun’s Kirk Penton broke the story.

Sports Radio 1290 will be the broadcaster of Jets’ games, while TSN will handle television coverage. The deal with both Bell Media-owned stations hasn’t been officially announced by the team yet.

Beyak will be responsible for doing TSN regional TV broadcasts and radio play-by-play, while Munz will solely handle radio duties.

As for a replacement at CJOB, former Shaw TV reporter/producer Jim Toth will cover the Jets for the Corus-owned station.
