Two Manitoba athletes excelled on the national and international stage this past weekend in separate competitive events.
Sarah-Anne Brault of Winnipeg finished 55 seconds ahead of Paula Findlay of Edmonton at the Canadian Triathlon Championships in Kelowna, BC. Findlay is ranked third in the world.
Also receiving recognition was Chantal Van Landeghem for bringing home four individual medals and one team medal at the 2011 FINA World Junior Swimming Championships. Chantal earned two silver medals (100m Free, 4x100m Free Relay) and three bronze medals (50m Back, 50m Free, 50m Fly) in Lima, Peru.
“Sarah and Chantal are to be commended for their outstanding podium performances over the weekend,” said Randy Anderson, general manager of the Canadian Sport Centre Manitoba. “Their achievements further demonstrate that with the proper daily training environment Manitoba’s athletes and coaches can compete against the best in the world.”
