Take note of these two road closures this weekend if you’re staying in the city.
Beginning Saturday at 6 a.m., the Louise Bridge will be closed to replace bridge bearings. The closure will last five days and is part of annual maintenance. The bridge will reopen on Wednesday, August 31 at 6 a.m.
Secondly, Higgins Avenue will be closed at Waterfront Drive starting tonight at 7 p.m. Higgins will reopen Monday, August 29 at 5 a.m. The closure is due to construction of the new Disraeli Bridges. No vehicle access to Higgins between Argyle Street and Gomez Street will be permitted during construction.
Overnight construction activity will take place near Higgins and Waterfront, so the public is advised some overnight noise from this activity is expected.
A number of Winnipeg Transit routes will be affected by these closures. Check WinnipegTransit.com for updated route information.
Motorists are reminded to allow additional travel time and to use alternate routes like the Redwood and Disraeli Bridges.
