Winnipeg Athletes Take Silver at Rowing Championships

Two Winnipeg athletes have won silver medals at the World Rowing Championships in Bled, Slovenia.

Janine Hanson clinched her second place win in the women’s eight event, while Meghan Montgomery won in the adaptive mixed four category.

Janine’s crew qualified their boat for the 2012 Olympics in London, while Meghan’s crew qualified for the 2012 Paralympics.

Both women train out of the Winnipeg Rowing Club, which has also produced a series of other winners in recent weeks.

The championships were held from August 28 to September 4.
