September 8, 2011 6:38 AM | Entertainment

The Winnipeg Press Club is presenting a special luncheon on September 19 dedicated to the art of military storytelling.

Author and historian Norm Leach will host the afternoon to bring Canada’s military history to life. Leach is the author of best-seller “Passchendaele: Canada’s Tragedy and Triumph on the Fields of Flanders,” and a historian on the Paul Gross movie by the same name.

The luncheon will take place at the Royal Canadian Legion #4, 1755 Portage Avenue, beginning at noon.

Advance reservations are required by Friday, September 9. The cost is $25 for non-Press Club members and $20 for members, those belonging to the St. James Legion #4, and students.

Tickets can be purchased at WinnipegPressClub.com, by e-mail at winnipegpressclub@mts.net, or by phone at (204) 800-1887.

The Press Club also recently announced that they will be honouring veteran journalist Val Werier, whose career spans nearly 70 years. A date to present Werier with the Presidents Award hasn’t yet been determined.
