The Manitoba Liberals would invest $44.5 million over five years to reduce daycare wait times and create more spots.
Liberal leader Jon Gerrard announced Friday he would push for more daycare availability and better funding, something he says the NDP has failed to do.
“The wait to get a daycare spot in this province is unacceptable and the NDP have failed families,” Gerrard said. “Not only do we want to give young families more access to daycare, but we want to give Manitoba kids a head-start with a better early childhood education system.”
Under the Liberals’ early childhood education plan, they would dedicate more resources towards increased early childhood education and hire more child-care professionals. Child screening for learning disabilities early in life would also be a priority, so resources can be provided when children are in class.
