Talented Winnipeggers looking for their big break came out in droves on the weekend to try out for the first season of the reality TV show “Canada’s Got Talent.”
Lineups at the Winnipeg Convention Centre began early in the morning on Friday and Saturday as people practiced their special talent while in line waiting for their turn in front of producers.
Winnipeg is the first city on the Canadian tour, which later heads to Edmonton, Vancouver, Montreal, Toronto and Halifax.
About 1,000 people were expected to come down for auditions over the two-day period.
Those who made the initial cut will get their shot at being on TV when the show returns to Winnipeg in December to tape four shows. Finalists will be notified by mid-November on whether they were good enough or not.
The series will air on Citytv starting in March 2012.
