Strong winds have damaged the roof of the Elmwood Kildonans Pool on Concordia Avenue, forcing its closure.
The City of Winnipeg says the damage occurred Tuesday night, and a structural assessment of the building is underway to determine the extent of damages and what repairs are required.
Early bird and public swim programs have been suspended until the building is reopened. Registered swim programs at the facility begin in October and therefore are not being impacted by this temporary closure.
There is no word yet on when the facility will reopen.
Updates can be found at Winnipeg.ca or by calling 311.
The same wind gusts were responsible for downing several trees in various parts of the city. Forestry crews are currently working to clean up, which is expected to take until the end of the week.
