A social in the name of late Winnipeg Blue Bomber defensive line coach Richard Harris has been planned for Saturday, October 29.
The “Pay It Forward” social will benefit the Heart and Stroke Foundation and Football Manitoba. Organizers are also having a teddy bear drive, with new bears being donated to local charities. Those who bring a bear to the social will have a chance at a special prize draw.
The indoor-outdoor event will be held on the main floor of Assiniboia Downs, as well as on the tarmac. Winnipeg Blue Bombers players and personnel will all be in attendance.
Tickets go on sale Friday at 10 a.m. through Ticketmaster for $20. A maximum of 2,500 will be sold.
Silent auction prizes include Grey Cup tickets, Winnipeg Jets tickets, electronics, furniture and other items. Prize donations are being graciously accepted by event organizer Judy Bamburak at (204) 296-6661 or via e-mail to email@example.com.
The social begins at 7 p.m.
Harris passed away July 26 after suffering a heart attack in his office.
