Between the provincial election and now this, voters in several Winnipeg wards will head to the polls twice in the next couple of months.
A by-election has been called for Saturday, November 26. It will seek to replace former St. Vital city councillor Gord Steeves, who resigned his council seat this summer to run provincially for the Progressive Conservatives in the Seine River riding.
Vacancies will also be filled in the Winnipeg School Division (Ward 1) and the Louis Riel School Division (Ward 2) ridings the same day.
Council candidates can register their campaigns in-person at the City Clerk’s Department as of September 24. Campaign funds cannot be raised or solicited before a candidate is registered.
School trustee candidates are not subjected to the same campaign expense rules.
By-election nominations will be held from Saturday, October 15 and Friday, October 21.
