If you haven’t already made your Saturday night plans, FemFest would love to have you.
The ninth annual seven-day festival, FemFest 2011: Staging Inspiration, opens with an array of performers and local celebrities.
Theatre, art, film and music will all be showcased, with local artists participating, including Anita Lebeau, Caroline Barrientos, and the Fu Fu Chi Chi Choir featuring Michelle Boulet, Sarah Constible and Liz Quesnel.
Other draws include a performance piece by SG Lee, and music by “Hip Shakin’ Mama” Shelley Lynne Hardinge.
The open night gala will be held at the Canwest Centre for Theatre and Film at the University of Winnipeg, 400 Colony Street, beginning at 7 p.m.
CTV Winnipeg late night anchor-turned-new mother Susan Tymofichuk will host the evening.
Tickets are $10 by calling (204) 586-2236 or online at FemFest.ca. A reception will follow with catering by La Trattoria.
