Red River College has taken the unusual step in postponing the start of the women’s soccer season due to a lack of commitment from its athletes.
The Manitoba Colleges Athletic Conference (MCAC) was set to debut today by hosting the University of Winnipeg College Wesmen women at the Notre Dame fields.
“I realize this is not ideal for the league,” said Doug Lawrie, head coach for the Red River Rebels women’s soccer team. “We continue to work hard to ensure the women’s soccer program at Red River College successfully gets off the ground this year.”
The decision to postpone the start was made after the competitive roster was completed earlier this week, the MCAC said.
The first women’s soccer game for Red River College will (hopefully) be Tuesday, September 27 at 5:30 p.m.
The men made their debut on Sunday, September 11, losing 4-0 to Providence University College.
