A brand new exhibition is set to launch at the Winnipeg Art Gallery featuring the works of a Stonewall-raised artist.
William Kureluk: The Messenger is a look into the creative mind of Alberta-born artist William Kureluk and will run from September 30 to December 31.
The exhibition brings together more than 80 of Kurelek’s works spanning three decades, many of which include paintings of childhood reminiscences and prairie fields.
To compliment the exhibition, an interactive website has been setup at Kurelek.ca, where visitors can view images in the exhibition, zoom in on details, and leave comments about their impressions of the work.
The official opening will be held on Saturday, October 1 at 7 p.m. to kick off Nuit Blanche, the WAG’s all-night celebration of the arts.
Following its stint in Winnipeg, the exhibition will head to the Art Gallery of Hamilton from January 29 to April 29, 2012, and to the Art Gallery of Greater Victoria from May 25 to September 3, 2012.
