A powerful and provocative film will be screened on Thursday, October 6 that looks at women’s under-representation in positions of power and influence.
CWC (Canadian Women in Communications) Manitoba will screen “Miss Representation,” which challenges the limited and often disparaging portrayals of women in media.
The documentary will be followed by a conversation, featuring professional and successful women. Panelists include Dr. Brenda Austin-Smith, associate professor of Film and Theatre Faculty at the University of Manitoba, Sharon Taylor, general manager of Hot 103 and QX 104, Lauren McNabb, Global TV reporter, and Mariana Sussi, clinical psychologist.
The discussion will be led by CBC Manitoba news anchor Janet Stewart.
The screening and panel will take place at the Park Theatre, 698 Osborne Street. Check-in is at 10:30 a.m., with the film beginning at 11 a.m. Lunch will be provided.
CWC members pay $15, while non-members pay $20. The deadline to register online is October 4.
