Provincial Election Campaign Promises — Weekend Roundup

Greg Selinger — NDP

  • While in Brandon, the NDP promised to add another ambulance to the road, and expand home care at a cost of $190,000.
  • Also in Brandon, party leader Greg Selinger pledged 2,500 new private-sector rental housing units across the province to increase the rental vacancy rate.

Hugh McFadyen — Progressive Conservative Party

  • The PCs promised a new 60,000-square-foot multiplex facility in south Winnipeg to meet the demand of booming housing development from Waverley West to Sage Creek . The multiplex would include two full-size ice rinks, a fitness centre, and auditorium space at a cost $8 million.

Jon Gerrard — Manitoba Liberal Party

  • The Liberals announced an eco-plan to reduce phosphorus in lakes, protect space for community gardens and invest in a green economy. The one-year initiative would cost $4 million.
