The Manitoba Liberals would work to increase the number of community police stations and foot patrols in the city if elected on October 4.
Party leader Jon Gerrard singled out Fort Rouge on Tuesday to make an example, saying the area has become less safe in recent years. Gerrard said the closure of a community police station in Osborne Village has had the same effect.
“Escalating safety concerns in places like Osborne Village, Wellington Cresent [sic] and Fort Rouge has been a failure of the NDP,” said Fort Rouge Liberal candidate Paul Hesse.
“When I’m at the door, many voters are telling me that they fear for their safety like never before.”
