U of W Board Approves New Field House, Other Development

The University of Winnipeg board has approved the development and design of a new field house, wellness hub and parkade.

Number TEN Architectural Group has produced the architectural drawings of a new mixed-use athletics complex, wellness centre on Spence Street offering students, inner-city residents and youth new recreation options in the heart of downtown.

Work on the new multi-purpose Field House would begin in the spring of 2012, as well as the Health and Wellness Complex, which would include the U of W Lifespan Physical Activity Research Institute.

The university is also establishing a Faculty of Kinesiology effective July 1, 2012.
