Take Pride Winnipeg will launch its annual Bag Up Manitoba program this morning to encourage students to collect plastic bags for recycling into Frisbees.
In partnership with Multi-Material Stewardship Manitoba, the program will run throughout October at elementary schools throughout the province. When launched in 2008, the program only included Winnipeg-area schools.
The goal this year is to collect 500,000 plastic bags from 150 elementary schools.
Officials from Take Pride Winnipeg, MMSM, Greyhound Courier Express, BFI Canada and Canada Safeway will be on hand at Lord Nelson School for the 10:30 a.m. launch.
