Siloam Mission, 300 Princess Street (HANDOUT)
Siloam Mission will offer its clients a Thanksgiving dinner this afternoon, complete with all the delicious trimmings.
The annual meal feeds an estimated 800 people of Winnipeg’s homeless population over the span of two hours.
Volunteers have been working tirelessly to prepare a large feast, and decorate tables to create a warm holiday environment.
Siloam expects more guests to attend this year’s meal due to an increase in clients of approximately 15% over the last 12 months.
To avoid long line-ups outside, Siloam is opening up the fourth floor of its building for guests to be inside and enjoy entertainment from volunteers while they wait for their dinner sitting on the main floor. The dinner starts at 1 p.m. and runs until 3 p.m.
The homeless shelter will serve a similar meal on Christmas.
