Fire Prevention Week -- October 9-15. (WPGCAMERAMAN / CHRISD.CA FILE)
Fire Prevention Week is drawing to a close, but before it does, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service will participate in a city-wide fire drill at all Winnipeg schools beginning at 1 p.m. today. Crews will be on site at local schools to observe and participate in the drills.
On Saturday, all 26 fire stations will open their doors to the public from noon to 4 p.m. It’s a chance to see the inside of a fire station and also have the kids take part in the Honourary Fire Chief for a Day contest. McDonald’s will be providing refreshments during the open houses.
Children who received “Protect Yourself from Fire” packages at school this week are encouraged to fill out the ballots inside to win one of four Nintendo DS systems. Entry forms can be dropped off during the open houses on Saturday at any fire station.
