Fans will get the chance to rub shoulders with CFL legends on Friday, when two Winnipeg Blue Bomber Hall of Famers sign autographs at the Bomber Store.
Ken Ploen and Gerry James will be signing copies of their recently-launched books from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
James’ book, “Kid Dynamite: The Gerry James Story,” tells the story of the youngest player at the time to play in the CFL. At only 17, James proved his worth through the rankings and eventually went on to compete for both a Grey Cup and a Stanley Cup in the same year.
Ploen’s book, “Quiet Hero: The Ken Ploen Story,” tells the tale of one of the Blue Bombers’ greatest quarterbacks from his days as a Rose Bowl star with the University of Iowa to his being named Grey Cup MVP in 1961 when he scored a rushing touchdown in overtime to seal the deal for the Blue Bombers.
Both books will be on sale at the Bomber Store and available for autographs by the legends themselves.
During Saturday’s home game against the Montreal Alouettes, James will be the honourary captain as the two games battle for first place in the East. It will also be James’ birthday, as he’ll be turning 77.
