The University of Manitoba Bison men’s hockey team has had a phenomenal start to the 2011-12 season, going undefeated it their first four games on the road.
The Bisons are coming off of a win streak against Calgary and Alberta earlier this month, and will hope nothing changes when they open up their first pair of home games tonight and Saturday.
The team (4-0-0) will welcome the Regina Cougars (0-4-0), who they lost to in non-conference action on September 23. It’s the first of two weekends the Herd will play Regina — the two teams meet again January 6-7 in Cougar territory.
“Each week gets tougher in our conference,” Bisons head coach Mike Sirant said earlier this week. “Regina is a team that always plays us very tight. Now our focus is to stay humble and keep getting better every day, and respect our next opponent by preparing as best as we can for this weekend.”
Forward Blair Macaulay is currently tied for sixth with five points, accounting for three goals and two assists, along with defenceman Dane Crowley.
Puck drop for both games is 7 p.m. at Max Bell Arena.
