Winnipeg is the first municipality in Canada to adopt a new eco-friendly graffiti removal machine.
The Downtown Winnipeg BIZ unveiled on Friday the Tornado Advanced Cleaning System, which removes graffiti from virtually any surface without the use of water or harsh chemicals.
“This is literally the cleanest and greenest way to remove graffiti,” said Stefano Grande, Downtown BIZ executive director. “We’re excited to be trailblazing in the area of cleanliness by using the latest in green techniques to keep our downtown clean.”
The German-made system will be used by the BIZ’s 11 Metro Enviro-Team members and costs $400 a month to lease.
Public demonstrations of the machine were run at the Winnipeg Green Lifestyle & Natural Living Show on Saturday, and will continue today from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Winnipeg Convention Centre.
