City of Winnipeg crews will be out starting this evening to begin the fall leaf sweeping program.

Weather permitting, crews will target areas of the city where leaves have accumulated heavily. The around-the-clock cleanup will include approximately 60 pieces of equipment and take about two weeks to complete.

During the cleanup, the public is asked to not rake yard waste material, such as leaves, grass clippings and other debris onto the streets. Residents can take their own yard waste to the city’s many Leaf It With Us depots.

“No Parking” signs will be placed in designated areas where crews will be working. Those who park in off-limit zones could be ticketed or towed.

This year’s cleanup is expected to cost $400,000.
