Icky is a new character this year at Boo at the Zoo (HANDOUT)
There’s just something about Boo at the Zoo that has attracted record numbers this year — and it’s not even over yet.
The zoo released numbers Wednesday for the first six nights of its 11-day run. Already, more than 44,000 people have attended the zoo’s annual Halloween attraction, which is an increase of 150% from last year.
“Sufficed to say, the numbers we’re experiencing are unprecedented,” said Lorne Perrin, VP of marketing and park services for the Assiniboine Park Conservancy. “We’re absolutely thrilled with the enthusiasm for this year’s Safeway Boo at the Zoo and we love to hear that people are enjoying the new aspects of the event.”
Zoo officials are encouraging people to buy their tickets in advance from any Canada Safeway location to avoid the lineups once they arrive to the park.
Boo at the Zoo runs every night until Sunday.
