Winnipeg will host a national search and rescue competition on Saturday designed to test the skills of teams from across Canada.
The 2011 SARscene Games will include events such as navigation, visual search, low-angle rescue, survival skills, search management and first aid.
The games bring together police, military, park wardens, fire departments and specially trained volunteers to compete and enhance their skills.
There will be a number of displays and demonstrations including the new Winnipeg Police helicopter and a parachute jump by military SAR technicians from the 17 Wing 435 Transport and Rescue Squadron.
The public can attend to watch the games at Assiniboine Park beginning at 11 a.m.
