A group of Shilo-based soldiers who were stationed in Afghanistan for the past two months will return to Canadian soil today.
Ten soldiers from the Second Battalion Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry (2PPCLI) will land at Winnipeg’s James Richardson International Airport at 6 p.m.
The group was part of Operation Attention in Kabul, focused on training and mentoring the Afghan National Army. Another 20 soldiers from Shilo have already been deployed to Kabul to participate in the same mission and will remain until spring 2012.
Another group of 54 Shilo soldiers will be returning home in the coming weeks after serving for the past six months in Afghanistan.
