A report that recommends combining the city’s aging public works and fleet management facilities into one will go before a committee today.
The Standing Policy Committee on Property and Development will look over a proposal that would see the East Yard Complex on Foster Street replace other facilities on Plessis Road, Ravelston Avenue, St. Anne’s Road, Archibald Street, Watt Street and Tache Avenue.
The new facility would be located on the former Elmwood Nairn Landfill site on the east side of the Red River.
Funding the project would require $45 million, of which $4.3 million has already been approved by council.
Upgrading the current properties is estimated to cost more than $20 million.
