Boy, 9, Shot to Death on Sagkeeng First Nation

A nine-year-old boy on the Sagkeeng First Nation was fatally shot Thursday evening, RCMP have confirmed.

The incident happened in a residence just before 7 p.m. when the boy’s older brother, 14, allegedly shot him.

The victim was taken to hospital with upper body injuries, but was pronounced deceased upon arrival.

Officers with the Powerview RCMP detachment are continuing to investigate, along with the assistance of forensic investigators and the major crime unit.
