Maple Leaf Workers to Vote on Collective Agreement

November 14, 2011 7:14 AM | News

The union representing Winnipeg Maple Leaf workers will hear details of a new collective agreement this week.

UFCW Local 832 represents the more than 850 workers at Maple Leaf’s plant on Lagimodiere Boulevard. Both sides have been negotiating since June and have reached a recommended settlement.

“The membership was clear on what they wanted this round and I think once they hear the specifics of the new deal, they will be happy,” said Jeff Traeger, the union’s president.

Members will vote on the settlement Friday at the plant. The new agreement will cover the classifications of the new $85 million renovation at the Lagimodiere plant that will see an additional 350 new jobs created.
