We’re about halfway through Movember — the month-long initiative where men grow facial hair in support of prostate cancer research.
The campaign has been gaining full “mo-mentum” to this point, and one of the events to help give it its final push to the finish line is the “Young at Heart” event. The first annual Movember Beer Dinner is set for Tuesday at St. Boniface Golf Club.
“It’s not too late to sign up and participate as a registered Mo Bro or Mo Sista,” said Jamie Hopkins, Movember Winnipeg committee chair. “Collecting donations is a huge component of the fundraising efforts. Another fun way anyone can get involved and contribute is by attending official Movember events happening throughout the month.”
The evening will be hosted by Power 97’s Rena and Philly, and includes a silent auction featuring past and present, autographed, authentic Winnipeg Jets jerseys and other sports memorabilia.
Tickets are $100 each, while tables of eight are available for $700. Tax receipts will be issued for a portion of the amount of each ticket and table purchased. For tickets, e-mail movemberwinnipeg@gmail.com.
