U of W Pushes Countries for Legal Empowerment

The president of the University of Winnipeg will address several visiting judges from Peru, Jamaica, Ghana today on the critical need to give the world’s poor access to legal protections.

Dr. Lloyd Axworthy will deliver a keynote address to promote property and labour rights in under developed nations during a roundtable. Canadian judicial administrators, international development practitioners, faculty, students and community leaders dedicated to legal empowerment will also take part in the discussion.

It’s estimated that four billion people need access to land, income and identity.

The “Making the Law Work for Everyone” event will be held in Convocation Hall on the second floor of Wesley Hall from 3:15 p.m. to 3:45 p.m.
