The City of Winnipeg received 54 automated external defibrillators (AEDs) Thursday when it accepted a large donation of the life-saving equipment.
The Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service and the Heart and Stroke Foundation donated 30 and 24 units each, respectively. The equipment will be placed in all public libraries throughout the city, including in community centres, 10 Winnipeg Police Service facilities, and in select rural locations.
The Boston Pizza Foundation and the Cowan Foundation made the HSF’s donation possible by purchasing the units, valued at more than $3,000 each.
About 100 facilities throughout the city now have access to the equipment.
