Bisons Growing ‘Mo’s’ to Support the Cause

November 24, 2011 7:45 AM | Sports

The University of Manitoba Bison men’s hockey team is doing their part in raising support and awareness for prostate cancer research. The team is participating in the annual Movember event — growing mustaches to support the cause and holding a fundraiser on Saturday prior to their game against the Alberta Golden Bears.

The Bisons — ranked 10th — will host a dinner at Degrees Diner in partnership with Half Pints Brewery on the third floor of University Centre Saturday afternoon. The reception will begin at 4:30 p.m., with dinner served at 5 p.m. Door prizes and a silent auction featuring Winnipeg Jets and Blue Bomber gear will be up for grabs. The three-course meal will be paired with various Half Pints brews, served with local bison. Vegetarian items are available upon request. Tickets are $25 and are available at Answers in University Centre or by calling (204) 995-1197. Proceeds will support prostate cancer research efforts.

Following the chow-down, the Herd will take the ice at Max Bell Arena to face the #5 ranked Golden Bears at 7 p.m. The two teams will go at it again at the same time on Saturday.
