MTS has deployed its fibre optic network (FiON) in Dauphin, as well as its MTS Ultimate TV service.

“FiON is one of the most advanced fibre optic network technologies in Canada and Dauphin is one of the first communities to benefit from the industry-leading services it enables us to provide,” said MTS president Kelvin Shepherd in a release.

FiON provides bandwidth to customers’ homes to support telephone and high-speed Internet service.

The launch of FiON in Dauphin is part of a $125 million investment by MTS to expand its fibre-to-the-home network over five years. MTS says it hopes to have the technology available to about 120,000 homes in over 20 Manitoba communities by the end of 2015.
